Plato's Cave

What is Plato saying here about our humanity?

Hello All,

I found this video on Youtube as well. I have always like Plato, so this popped out to me immediately. To me, this is an excellent example of Satire. What do you guys think?

  1. I think that the chains and binding represent our human constraints. As humans, we are limited by our bodies. Just like we can't fly or hold our breath for too long. We are only able to see certain things in this world

  2. Plato believed that the objects in our world were only copies of the real thing. He taught that if we see a chair, it is not the real chair. The real chair was the image that the creator saw in his head. What he made with his hands was only his interpretation of what he saw in his head. -- Michael
