What does this parody tell us about our society and our use of technology?
Hey guys, I found this video on youtube, and I thought it was a good example of parody. Please comment below the implications of this video on us today. Do you agree with what the creator's message is?
The purpose of this video (and parody in general) is to allow the creator to show something that is seemingly important or good it's true light. Parody is usually comical because when people see how silly something truly is they can't help but chuckle.
Soooo by showing how foolish something is, the creator/author is able to inspire people to change a problem? or shed light on a major problem in our society?
In this example, the author would be saying we have gotten away from experiencing things first hand and depend on technology which could lead to an unhealthy society?
I think that the creator of this has it all wrong. Wii Fit does have a place in our society. Not all of us are athletic enough to play real soccer and Wii fit gives us all that opportunity. I do agree that Wii fit should be the extent of our exercise, but I think it can be very useful, and it's certainly better than simply playing Halo or Call of Duty
This parody mocks our dependence on technology, and shows how lazy we have become as a society-- Kyle
